2.29 Cos’era la rinascita spirituale avvenuta nel Medioevo?
Nel Medioevo molte persone, sia religiosi che fedeli laici, iniziarono a riflettere sul ruolo della persona di Gesù nella loro vita quotidiana. Nel XII e XIII secolo vennero fondati molti nuovi monasteri e ordini religiosi, come i Cistercensi, i Francescani e i Domenicani.
Nel XIII secolo, lo studio della fede vide una ripresa grazie a dibattiti teologici ben argomentati (Scolastica). In questo ambiente intellettuale vennero fondate molte università, ed anche movimenti laici per chi voleva condurre una vita di preghiera pur vivendo “nel mondo”.
